Bio

Milton Aineruhanga holds a Masters Degree in Economic Policy and Planning. He is Program Officer of Women of Uganda Network ( WOUGNET - www.wougnet.org ), whose mission is to promote and support the use of ICTs by women and women's organisations in Uganda . He also represents WOUGNET , and the civil society in general, on the Uganda National WSIS Taskforce. The taskforce is charged with the responsibility of preparing and presenting Uganda 's position with regard to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS - www.itu.int/wsis ) and the way forward after the summit. He has also a member of the Foundation for Free and Open Source Software in Africa (FOSSFA - www.fossfa.net ) council since inception in 2003. Currently Chairman of the Uganda Bikers Association for the year 2005/06 and 2006/07, and has been riding motorcycles since the age of 16.

Bio

Mr. Bernard F. Runnebaum serves as the Program Manager/Country Representative for the ACDI/VOCA Uganda PL480 Program. He has over forty years experience in agricultural cooperative management, commodity marketing and development management. Mr. Runnebaum first came to Uganda in 1984 on a short-term consultancy and returned again in 1985, 1987 for USAID and the World Bank. In 1991 he moved to Uganda to serve in his current capacity as Program Manager and Country Representative. The ACDI/VOCA PL 480 program brings in vegetable oil and wheat, which is monetized and the proceeds provide agricultural assistance to the country. The program also provides food assistance to 60,000 people living with HIV AIDS, and 20,000 school children in the north as well as a new food production program for IDP's in Palenga Parish near Gulu.

Mr. Runnebaum started riding motorcycles in 1971 in the US . He purchased a motorcycle in Uganda in 2002 and joined the Uganda Bikers Association in October 2002. He currently serves as President of the organization. He was an organizer and a participant in the 3280 km "Wild Track" run through East Africa in aid of Reach Out Operation School Fees.

 

Name: Petrus (Peet) Coetzee

Bio

Mr. Petrus Johannes Coetzee currently serves as Regional Administration Manager for Shoprite ( Uganda ) Ltd. With a total of thirty years experience in a retail environment he joined the Shoprite Checkers group of companies during 1989 and has, in addition to his current position, served the Company in the capacities of Administration Manager, Branch Manager and Regional Manager.

Peet Coetzee was seconded to Uganda during October 2000 in order to assist with the establishment of the Company's retail investment in Uganda . His time in Uganda has mainly been spent on developing the human resources potential of the Company to the extent that the current store management now consists solely of Ugandan Nationals.

Peet Coetzee started riding motorcycles during 2002 in as he percieved it as a means of getting to the less accessable areas of the country and joined the Uganda Bikers Association in November 2003.

 

Name: Wayne Slack

Bio

Mr. Slack is a Civil Engineer with over 22 years of experience in project preparation, planning and implementation particularly in the urban and rural infrastructure sector. His international experience spans over 18 years and includes short and long term assignments in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan and the Philippines and has encompassed technical input to the implementation of community-based strategies in the planning, design, construction and operation and maintenance of rural and urban infrastructure with emphasis in water supplies; managerial responsibility for formulation of institutional strengthening and capacity building initiatives; and advisory input to the establishment of a training institution.

He has served as Project Director or Team Leader on several major projects in Uganda: Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Reform Study; Environmental Audits of Private Enterprises; The Local Government Development Project; Assessment of USAID Rural Feeder Roads Rehabilitation and Maintenance Programme, the Kampala City Council Development of a Divestiture Strategy for Naguru and Nakawa Housing Estates and Supervision of District Development Project Indefinite Quantity Contracts. He was the Project Manager for a multi-disciplinary engineering and social science group on an infrastructure improvement project preparation assignment in the Philippines for the World Bank. As well, he has four years of on-site technical training experience in Kenya where he was involved in the establishment of a water technology department at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology in Nakuru.

Mr. Slack was appointed a Principal with Wardrop Engineering Inc. in 1995 and a Director of MBW Consulting Engineers in 1999. He is resident in Uganda for the past 7 years.

Mr. Slack first started riding motorcycles at 17 years of age, some thirty years ago, with a 250cc Kawasaki Enduro off road bike. He currently rides an 750 Suzuki Intruder

 

Name: John (Monty) Montgomery

Bio

Mr. John Montgomery served as the Africa CIO for Aon International Holdings, a worldwide leader in Insurance Broking, being responsible for Aon's Information Technology endeavours in Nigeria , Uganda , Kenya , Tanzania , Malawi , Zambia , Zimbabwe , Botswana , South Africa , Lesotho and Swaziland . Mr. Montgomery arrived in Africa from Canada in 1997, and although a large part of his time was spent through-out Aon operations both in Africa and Europe during the subsequent 6 years, he used Uganda as his base of operations for managing Aon IT-Africa. Mr. Montgomery comes from a Mechanical Design background and has extensive experience in Research and Development; he is currently the Managing Director for Mediavigil Ltd.

Mr. Montgomery designed the UBA Logo and website and has been an avid motorcyclist since 1975, Mr. Montgomery purchased his first motorcycle in Uganda shortly after his arrival in 1997 and has culled his collection down to the two bikes listed above. As a certified Motorcycle Mechanic, he enjoys maintaining his current collection of motorcycles to his own high standards. Mr. Montgomery is an active organiser and participant as well as a Director of the Uganda Bikers Association since 2003.
